Only 1% of users on social networks are content creators, which means we have a great opportunity to create content, position our personal brand or business, and become a reference in our niches.

First, we must understand what is a Content Creator and why there should be content creation in the first place

A content creator develops a product of value for an audience in the digital world, which is why it is part of Online Marketing strategies.

It is the person who creates content for a business, company, institution, or personal brand.

The importance of creating content lies not only in providing information of interest to the client. It also helps the positioning of your company and brand in the market.

These are the initial steps for you to be successful in this content creation process:

  1. Define the objectives of your content

If you don’t know where you want to go, you will never know which way to go.
The content generated must then be capable of transmitting the fundamental messages you want to share. Your content must help achieve the outlined objectives, focusing not only on the strengths or most outstanding characteristics of a brand but also identifying and addressing the consumer needs.

The primary objectives sought are these:
1. Increase brand visibility and reach potential customers.
2. Keep in touch with your followers and communicate on social networks.
3. Reach the user through relevant content and not direct sales.
4. Greater number of leads and registrations.

Remember to use the SMART technique to develop goals.

2. Define the topics to be discussed
To create content, it is key to define what will be the topics that you will usually deal with in your publications, for example in my case I have defined:

My Medium bio

It is also important that the topics have coherence with your brand since it is difficult to position ourselves in multiple areas. The simplest thing is to cover topics where we have a lot of knowledge and, above all, experience.

3. Select your audience
Define which audience you are going to speak to. In that aspect, you will know how the tone of your communication should be and you will even understand which is the ideal social network to start with.

4. Start with one social network
I always recommend starting with one Social Network because it is the simplest and most manageable way to create content when starting.

If you suddenly decide to be on LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok, the initial work will triple.

5. Research the market niche
Understand the existing competition in that target market you want to reach with your content.

This process will help you analyze what other professionals and companies in the sector are doing and you will even be able to know good practices to do and mistakes that you should avoid at all costs.

6. Establish your branding
You do not need to start with the most advanced design. The ideal is to define what will be the colors that will identify your brand. In such a way, that when a person sees your content, they become familiar with that content as they see it more frequently.
Here is an example of how I handle it on my website and my networks

7. Try initially posting at a low frequency
Every beginning is a process, so we must go step by step, so I recommend you set a realistic goal in terms of the number of publications per week or month.

I would start with a weekly publication.

When you have the rhythm to do it, it will be time to upload two publications a week, until in the future at a frequency according to your objectives.

8. Listen to your audience
People can always give us a lot of information when they leave a comment or send us a message, but also when they are silent and don't interact with the content.

We, as content creators, must always know what our audience tells us.

If we don't pay attention to them, we won't have any audience to talk to.

BONUS

Not all social networks have the same objectives, some are more visual than others, some are educational and others are for entertainment.

Define which network best suits your business and focus on that.

It is unnecessary to be in all of them.

Remember, it is possible to be that 1% and take full advantage of the advantages that digital media offers us, but we must have a plan to do so.
